Cookies cookies and more cookies

My Girl Guides had their Halloween Party last night and I made ghost cookies for them to decorate. There were a few left over and so I had to ice them today.

Yes we can communicate with the outside world!

For those who have been following along. You know we lost both our email user names and our phone number of 45 years. Thankfully everything is now alright.
You may phone us at our old number and email us at our old email addresses!
Yipee!

Weather at the new house

We still don't have window coverings so we can see the weather systems come and go.
I took this picture from the living room looking North but from the EAST side of the house you could see the entire rainbow!

First birthday in the house

It was mom's birthday today and she was the first person to celebrate a birthday in the new house. She also hosted the Vancouver "Gold" Trefoil Guild tonight and there was appies and cake. One of the members of our Guild, Wendy, is shown bringing in the cake.
The cake was from the bakery just down the block on Victoria Drive and it was delicious.
Happy Birthday Mom!

Pumpkin Loaf

So I have officially baked in my oven now.
This recipe is fabulous. It is like the pumpkin loaf found at Starbucks.
It is yummy! Email me if you want the recipe!

More boxes!

So Mom wanted me to post the picture of the boxes that are in the TV room.
I think she hopes they will all mysteriously find themselves a place somewhere in the house.

The moon out our window

Pod goes Bye Bye

This morning the pod went back to where it came from. Before 7am in the morning is really early!
Bye pod. The only problem is now we have a very large pile of boxes in the TV room.
I am hoping that the weather holds a while longer on one of the upcoming weekends so we can have a "we moved and can't fit these things in our new house" SALE.

Happy Thanksgiving

The container with our remaining boxes arrived on Sunday and in the sunshine Louise, Roger and mom removed the boxes. I was busy cooking Thanksgiving dinner.

It was definately a challange but we did get a lovely meal on the table for Thanksgiving.

Having the cooktop downstairs and the turkey cooking upstairs was a very unique cooking situation.

There was a good crowd and we even had visitors from Australia.

The Ranges are Here!

So it was an exciting day but an unexpected one.
Much to our surprise (the company didn't tell us they were coming) our two ranges arrived today. This meant trying to contact the plummer that did the work on our house (on the long weekend) to see if he could come and connect the gas. Well as you can imagine the outcome.
Tomorrow being Thanksgiving dinner it potentially leaves us with two ovens but only one stove top and the working stove top is downstairs. Urgh.
We have decided to treat tomorrow like Girl Guide camping on two different campsites and we will put the whole meal together upstairs.

Pictures on the walls

So while we continue to wait for land line and ADSL (they think maybe next Wednesday) we are starting to put our favourite photos and paintings on the wall. Working with drywall is a new thing for us so we have been cautious up to now.

I finally put up my towel bar and hook in the bathroom and was able to hang a few pictures and my kitchen clock!

Mom wanted her favourite picture (that was taken by dad) to be hung where she would see it every day so the foot of the stairs seemed like a good spot.

Still waiting

So if we haven't heard from us don't feel bad. We still don't have phone or internet service.
We discovered that when the Telus sub-contractor came to hook us up that their was no space left on the pole.
So we are still without service and don't know when we will. :(
Hopefully soon.

Our first dinner

Today a "loaner stove" was delivered. It was amusing to me that it is the same model as the ones at PW.

We didn't need a range yesterday as it was Sushi Friday.

So I heated up a meal from Costco and we toasted our first meal in the house.
Louise picked apples from the 4610 house and we enjoyed an apple crisp for dessert! Yummy!

My find of the day was a nifty ottoman at Moe's for the piano room and it is in a lovely red colour and looks great in that room.

A lot Moved

Well I am taking a break from packing. We have the evening news on (which means SHAW has turned on our cable!).

Thanks Heidi P. for our first home warming card.

Except for the rain the moving went really well. All the large stuff has now been moved in by Hammond, Chris, Bob, and Tom from Bekins. They were very effecient, nothing is broken and no major scuffing on the walls. The piano is in place and now needs tuning! We would recommend them to anyone moving. They were fun to have around while going through the packing.

We can't fit everything in the kitchen yet and we haven't yet moved all the pots and pans but we are seeing a lot of progress all over the house.
Another Telus issue! They didn't come today to reconnect us. They disconnected us last Friday for ADSL and on Monday for regular phone service. It took a 48 minute conversation to get a Monday service call next week and as compensation a month of free internet service. Of course I cannot log on to telus now. Makes me wonder whether a malicious employee pulled the plug on our service after phone call. What do you think?
Louise and Roger are putting felts on all the furniture upstairs as to not disturb the hardwood.
So I guess I should get back to work and unpack something. What to do next? We still can't cook anything as our ranges aren't scheduled to be here until Saturday. :(

October 1st

It was a beautiful fall October day and we tried to move as much we could today as the forecast for tomorrow is rain, Friday...rain, Saturday...rain well you get the picture.
Wish us all luck.
